These systems were once a part of the Dan's 20th Century Abandonware legacy computer collection. Their spirits have gone to
that great computer commune in the sky where they share their past experiences with others of their kind.
They will be missed, but they will not be forgotten. |
![]() Gateway Astro (1999) D2CA life span: 2002 - 2008 D2CA's Cost: US$30.00 (original: US$799.00) Hardware Specs: - Celeron 400MHz CPU - 256MB SDRAM - 20GB hard drive - 40x CD-ROM - 1.44MB 3½" floppy - Intel 810 integrated 3D graphics - Integrated 56K modem - On-board audio - Integrated stereo speakers - 4 USB ports - 15" SVGA color monitor - USB keyboard & mouse Eulogy: This system was provided as partial "payment" for computer services. This system had only USB ports for peripherals. After taking this system into the fold of D2CA's legacy computers I upgraded the operating system from Windows 98SE to Windows 2000 Professional, upgraded the memory from 64MB to 256MB (this system only has one DIMM slot), and replaced the 4.3GB hard drive with a 20 GB hard drive. Before giving this system a proper burial I retrieved the memory and hard drive. This system had "organs" donated to it, and these same "organs" have been retrieved to help existing and future legacy systems at D2CA. |
